Student Success Story (SSS)
One of my December completers was able to accept a job at Ingalls Shipbuilding
as a pipe insulator! This student did not love academics, but he is a hard worker. He
had been putting in extra hours as a server whenever he could, but he was ready for a
more promising career. He was a student that I was told “did not care” and “would not
interview well”. After a bit of interview practice and sometimes getting to know each
other, I knew he would be a perfect candidate for the first-ever Ingalls High school Hiring
Fair. We completed his job application and went over his interview skills together. On event
day, he received great feedback on his interview performance! He was respectful, kind, and personable. I was so excited when he reached out to celebrate the start of his new
career! He already has plans to work overtime and move up the chain as soon as
possible. I am immensely proud of him, and I look forward to seeing his success.
